Waiting on Wednesday: All Broke Down by Cora Carmack

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine that spotlights upcoming releases.

All Broke Down
Rusk University #3
by Cora Carmack
William Morrow Paperbacks
October 28, 2014

Summary:
In life, you can't only fight for what you believe in . . .sometimes you have to fight for what you love

Dylan fights for lost causes. Probably because she used to be one.

Environmental issues, civil rights, education—you name it, she's probably been involved in a protest. When her latest cause lands her in jail for a few hours, she meets Silas Moore. He's in for a different kind of fighting. And though he's arrogant and not at all her type, she can't help being fascinated with him.

Yet another lost cause.

Football and trouble are the only things that have ever come naturally to Silas. And it's trouble that lands him in a cell next to do-gooder Dylan. He's met girls like her before—fixers, he calls them, desperate to heal the damage and make him into their ideal boyfriend. But he doesn't think he's broken, and he definitely doesn't need a girlfriend trying to change him. Until, that is, his anger issues and rash decisions threaten the only thing he really cares about, his spot on the Rusk University football team.

Dylan might just be the perfect girl to help.

Because Silas Moore needs some fixing after all.

Why I want it:
A couple weeks ago, I binged EVERY Cora Carmack book. I am 100% sold. I've drunk the kool-aid, and now, I need me some more Cora books in my life. All Broke Down seems like a good start. I liked Silas in All Lined Up....for about two seconds until he proved he can be an absolute dick. But at the same time...there was something about him. There's a moment he has with Carson that was just beautiful and awesome, and I was like, "EFF YEAH CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT." I really love the world of Rusk University because it reminds me of my college days, which were dramatic and ridiculous but also wonderful and fun. All Lined Up has so far been my favorite of Cora's books. Not only did I want to completely reread ALU as soon as I finished it, I couldn't get it out of my head for days after, total book hangover.
So I think All Broke Down is sure to be a winner.

Why I think you should want it:
Well, first of all, I know all you Twitter stalkers out there who have been creeping on my conversations with Katie of Polished Page-Turners already want this book. And all the other ones we've been talking about. :P But I digress. Reasons you should want this book in a handy-dandy list! 1. Character development! Like I said, this is big in Cora's books, ESPECIALLY All Lined Up (which I believe should transfer to the sequel). These NA books aren't just smexy ya or chick lit lite. There are realistic, dynamic, well-developed characters. 2. Plot. Yes! Plot CAN exist in NA! 3. Smexy times! I've heard this is the best of Cora's books in this regard so watch out! 4. Abs. 'Nuff said! 5. Realism. I like to say that Jennifer Echols writes books that could be taken from my diary if I kept one. That's actually also true of Cora, whose characters I can seriously relate to on an adult level. Sadly, I never had a sexy British professor fall in love with me or jumped off the balcony into the arms of a studly college quarterback, but the little details about Cora's characters that help round them out into almost-3D people are details I can relate to. I feel like they are real people with real emotions and real problems and they come up with real (if sometimes stupid, but hey, that's real too) solutions. 6. Abs. Seriously, it had to be said.

Bonus:
The conversation that started it all! (actually that was another convo, but this one is totally relevant)

What do you think of my pick? Have you read All Lined Up? Leave your thoughts and your own picks in the comments!
