Fun Friday Survey

Over at Perpetual Page Turner, Jamie was talking about hitting a blogging slump with summer. I can definitely relate because of my increased work schedule right now. I haven't had time to truly devote to my blog, and it's made me really unhappy. But Jamie wrote up a survey to bust us out of this rut and have a little fun so I wanted to participate. Thanks to Maura @ The Whimsical Mama for posting the link!

Author you’ve read the most books from:
Definitely Ann M. Martin. I own nearly the whole set of The Baby-Sitters Club.

Best Sequel Ever:
Ugh. This is a tough one! I think I'll go with The Golden Lily (Bloodlines #2) by Richelle Mead.

Currently Reading:
Going Too Far by Jennifer Echols.

Drink of Choice While Reading:
I don't have a preferred drink while reading, specifically, but my favorite drinks are Coke Zero, Dr. Pepper 10, hot chocolate, and flavored sparkling water.

E-reader or Physical Book?
Let's get phys-i-cal, phys-i-cal! I am a purist. I really prefer to have the actual book with me because 1. it adds to the experience, and 2. I constantly flip back to previous scenes and conversations. It's easier for me to use my finger as a bookmark and flip pages physically than bookmark my current location and search for where I was. I have a cool ability to almost always remember about where and on what page (left or right, not number!) an event occured. That being said, I do enjoy my Kindle app for DRCs and convenience.

Fictional Character You Probably Would Have Actually Dated In High School:
Drew Morrow from Jennifer Echols's Major Crush. And I would have a had a major crush on just about ALL her boys. See what I did there? :P I pick Drew because I was a band nerd--and PROUD OF IT!

Glad You Gave This Book A Chance:
Shadow and Bone by Leigh Bardugo & Burning by Elana K. Arnold

Hidden Gem Book:
I Now Pronounce You Someone Else by Erin McCahan & Burning by Elana K. Arnold

Important Moment in your Reading Life:
Receiving my first library card at the ripe old age of 5. I still have that thing. I lost it, but the librarians found it and gave it back to me when I was older. Without my mom's encouragement every summer to participate in the library reading program, I never would have been such an avid reader. Thanks, Mom and thanks Knox County Public Library!

Just Finished:
Transparent by Natalie Whipple. FINALLY. It took me a month because of my work schedule!

Kinds of Books You Won’t Read:
Religious press and erotica.

Longest Book You’ve Read:
I thought it was Inheritance by Christopher Paolini, but Goodreads informs me that Harry Potter & the Order of the Phoenix wins by 10 at a whopping 870 pages.

Major book hangover because of:
All of them? Probably Winger by Andrew Smith. I cried myself to sleep after reading it and kind of had a headache the next morning. I wouldn't change a thing about it, though.

Number of Bookcases You Own:
Four, double shelved at my parents, and I also have several boxes of books at their place and several boxes at mine.

One Book You Have Read Multiple Times:
All of Jennifer Echols's books and The Host by Stephenie Meyer.

Preferred Place To Read:
My bed. Wherever I am, the bed I am using is my preferred reading spot.

Quote that inspires you/gives you all the feels from a book you’ve read:
"Where is human nature so weak as in the bookstore?" - Henry Ward Beecher

Reading Regret:
You know what? I don't really think I regret reading anything.

Series You Started And Need To Finish(all books are out in series):
Secrets of My Hollywood Life by Jen Calonita. I sped through the first few books, and though I've had #6 on my shelf for MONTHS, I haven't yet read it!

Three of your All-Time Favorite Books:
The Host by Stephenie Meyer
Harry Potter & the Prisoner of Azkaban by J.K. Rowling
S.O.S. Titanic by Eve Bunting

Unapologetic Fangirl For:
Jennifer Echols. I love her. She's amazing.

Very Excited For This Release More Than All The Others:
The Seeker/The Soul by Stephenie Meyer. I need these books to happen ASAP. In books that are actually written and on their way to me, I really, really want to read my friend Julie Murphy's Side Effects May Vary.

Worst Bookish Habit:
I give out a lot of recommendations to friends and family...but I rarely read the recs they give me!

X Marks The Spot: Start at the top left of your shelf and pick the 27th book:
All I Need by Susane Colasanti

Your latest book purchase:
all four of these at once:
After: Nineteen Stories of Apocalypse and Dystopia - Ellen Datlow & Terri Windling
The Peculiars - Maureen Doyle McQuerry
Undead (Undead #1) - Kirsty McKay
A World Away - Nancy Grossman

ZZZ-snatcher book (last book that kept you up WAY late):
The very first book I ever read that kept me up ridiculously late was Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. It took me about 5 hours total to read it, which I did in almost one entire sitting. I stayed up until 3 AM.

  1. I'm glad my book, A World Away, made your recent purchase list. I hope you like it! (Please let me know!)
