Top Ten Tuesday #46: Artistic Covers

Top Ten Tuesday is a meme created by The Broke and The Bookish. Each week the girls at B&B think up a fun theme, and participating bloggers post their favorite 10 books in that category. This week's theme is

Top Ten Covers I'd Frame as Art
You'll have to forgive me for being a tad predictable here, but pretty girls in prom dresses aside, these are gorgeous photos, let alone book covers. I would gladly hang any in my room (and I even do have a poster for These Broken Stars). Also, in some of these, the prom dress is RELEVANT TO THE STORY so HA.

Awwww-inducing contemporaries!

And yes, I picked the paperback cover of DYT because I like it just a tad better than the hardcover. I mean, come on. Look at Ryan's arm! Yowza!

These covers have me starry eyed!

I don't care if these are prom dress covers. THEY'RE STILL GORGEOUS.

When I reached nine beautiful covers, I was casting my mind about, looking for a fitting tenth cover, but I realized in typical Mary fashion for Top Ten Tuesday, that I found three. I thought of this beautiful series and honestly couldn't pick a favorite from the three so I just need to include them all. I've seen the full photoshoot, which was NOT done for the books, and it blows my mind. I just love this series of photographs, and I love how well the passion in the pictures translates to Mara and Noah. I get so frustrated when covers are redesigned partway through a series. It's really nice when the covers are consistent.

So those are my favorite covers, cheesy or not. What do you think? Any of these make your list too? Let me know & share those links in the comments!

Top Ten Tuesday #27: Winter TBR

Top Ten Tuesday is a meme created by The Broke and The Bookish. Each week the girls at B&B think up a fun theme, and participating bloggers post their favorite 10 books in that category. This week's theme is

Top Ten Books on My Winter 2013/2014 TBR
I also had The Promise of Amazing by Robin Constantine and Roomies by Tara Altebrando & Sara Zarr on my list, buuuuut...I kinda already read them. So I guess it's a good thing that I'm already ahead! That's a nice change!

1. Being Sloane Jacobs by Lauren Morrill. I met Lauren in February. I immediately read Meant to Be and really enjoyed it. I love the unique premise of her newest novel, and I can't wait to get into it!

2. Cold Spell by Jackson Pearce. I didn't realize just how connected the events of this series were until I read Fathomless. Basically, crap is gonna go down in this novel, and I'm glad my library has finally ordered its copies! About time, y'all!

3. The F-It List by Julie Halpern. I'm loving all the bucket list books coming out right now because it's so cool to see what tasks are important to different people and how they goes about completing those tasks. This one caught my attention on Netgalley. I wasn't approved for it, but that just made me want it more!

4. Her Dark Curiosity by Megan Shepherd. I find it absolutely fascinating that Megan is continuing the story but drawing inspiration from different gothic classics for each installment. Brilliant! HDC is going to be a sort of Jekyll & Hyde so that's going to be interesting. Also, I need some more Montgomery. You don't just end a novel like that, Megan. Sheesh!

5. Infinite by Jodi Meadows. The Newsoul trilogy is so incredibly unique, and Jodi's writing is full of feels. I MUST KNOW WHAT HAPPENS. *grabby hands for Sam* *thinks for a second* *slaps Maura's hands away* No, Maura. You had your turn! :P

6. Let the Storm Break by Shannon Messenger. Vale and Audra's romance is really sweet, but with the ending of Let the Sky Fall, things are going to be drastically different in this sequel. I hope everything is okay for them!

7. Perfect Lies by Kiersten White. Mind Games is pretty different from Kiersten's other work, but it was really cool. I just got the novella "Annie & Fia" and that's tiding me over until I can read the full book.

8. Side Effects May Vary by Julie Murphy. You can read my full reasons why in my WoW post for SEMV, but I love the bucket-list-haha-not-really premise. Can't wait for this one!

9. The Treatment by Suzanne Young. There's no way I can wait until closer to pub time to find out what's going to happen to Sloane and James!

10. Waterfell by Amalie Howard. Whimsical Mama Maura talked this one up so much that I can't wait to read it!

What books (and book boyfriends!) are going to keep you warm this winter? Let me know & feel free to share your TTT links!

Once again I attended an event at the amazing Irving Public Library, and it was just fantastic. Authors! Books! Bloggers! Descriptions of hot guys' abs! TV cameras! Wait, what? One of these things is not like the others...but seriously, there were tv cameras there, which was weird but awesome because the IPL is absolutely one of the best libraries I've ever been to, and the more word gets out about it, the more events they'll be able to host!

Personal note, please excuse the dark quality and lack of zoom on my photos. I forgot my camera and had to use my tablet camera instead. It doesn't have a flash or a zoom. Sorry!

Look at how cute everything is! Huge posters of the book covers (I managed to snag one for the giveaway!) and these massive HANDMADE tissue paper sunflowers everywhere. What with the checkered tablecloths, I felt like I was at a picnic!

Speaking of a picnic, I thought I was in heaven with the food!

Books + food = a very happy Mary. Lemon bars, sandwich wraps, and scrumptious cupcakes! I limited myself to one because I am a Good Girl. Okay, I had two cupcakes, but I had to try the white AND the chocolate. Don't judge me.

After a few minutes of talking and chowing down, it was time for the Main Event!
