Weekly wrap-up: December 1-7

Christmas came early with some updated catalogs on Edelweiss and Netgalley! How was your week? Did you pick up any great new books? Did you read anything spectacular? Let me know!

Completed:
"Brooke" (Under the Never Sky #2.5) - Veronica Rossi: 4 stars. Interesting novella. I'm still not a Brooke fan, but I do understand her a bit more. I loved seeing more of the Six!
The Promise of Amazing - Robin Constantine: 4 stars. Very sweet book, but a lot darker than I expected. That's a good thing, though, because that darkness helps it stand out from the ya contemporary pack. Full review here.
Roomies - Sara Zarr & Tara Altebrando: 3.5 stars.Very fun read. Full review coming soon!

Currently Reading:
Cinder audiobook - Marissa Meyer. I'm about 40% done. My listening time was cut when this storm hit Dallas, and I didn't go anywhere for a couple days (I only listen in the car), otherwise I would have finished by now.
In the Age of Love and Chocolate - Gabrielle Zevin. JUST started. I love this series so I'm excited to read the finale, but I'm pretty sad about it too. Please ignore the chocolate pun (or don't), but this is a bittersweet read.

New to my bookshelf this week:
Library:
This Side of Jealousy (Innocents #2) - Lili Peloquin
Just One Day audiobook - Gayle Forman

Bought:
Dark Swan bundle: Storm Born, Thorn Queen, Iron Crowned & Shadow Heir - Richelle Mead. Um, all four Eugenie books for $13 on Amazon? Yes, please! I've missed Eugenie and Dorian!
"Annie & Fia" (Mind Games #1.5) - Kiersten White (this is actually FREEEEEEE for download)

  1. You seem to be excited for After the End too, huh? It's one of the top 2014 releases I'm looking forward to reading!

I just finished The Promise of Amazing. I agree, it was a pretty sweet book. I wasn't a big fan of it, but I still liked it. I do prefer reading darker YA to lighter, though.

    1. I adore Amy Plum, and I can't wait to have more of her books in the world! I'm so sad that Promise of Amazing is getting such middling reviews. I really did enjoy it!

  2. Oh I imagine Cinder would be an excellent audiobook. I should listen to it! Would probably kill time even though it would be a re-read.

    1. Oh, it's wonderful! The narrator has an amazing voice! She has a great robotic voice for all the androids, and each characters has a very distinct sound.
