Weekly Wrap-up: September 8-14

So...when I draft these wrap-up posts, I usually start off drafting some vague statement about how I feel the week is going to go. This week's was originally a bland comment about being busy at work and blah blah blah. However...all that kind of changed in the middle of the week, which was truly spectacular. Markus Zusak! Lots of new books! A new necklace from Janet Cadsawan (she designs for Vampire Academy, Bloodlines, Game of Thrones, Throne of Glass, etc)! Season 6 of The Big Bang Theory on dvd! So I'm not going to be able to talk about how this week was boring because of too much work. It was actually really great. However, as I mentioned yesterday, I had a rough week reading and writing new posts. Luckily, I think I have survived my funk. How was your week in books?

Completed:
United We Spy (Gallagher Girls #6) - Ally Carter: 5 stars. I can't even. Review forthcoming.
UPDATE: Earthbound (Earthbound #1) - Aprilynne Pike: 4 stars. Finished before midnight so it counts. Review this week. All I'll say is #TeamBenson. That is all.

Currently Reading:

The Iron Traitor (Call of the Forgotten #2) - Julie Kagawa. Status: 2nd chapter
Clockwork Angel (Infernal Devices #1) - Cassandra Clare: This is making my commute surprisingly mellow. Status: 3.5/13 discs completed

New to my bookshelf this week:
Library:
Clockwork Angel (Infernal Devices #1) - Cassandra Clare. Audiobook. I love this novel. I've heard the audiobook is spectacular so I thought I'd give it a shot for my ridiculously long commute. See above.
United We Spy (Gallagher Girls #6) - Ally Carter. Found this at the library 4 days before the pub date. Um, yes, of course I'm going to read it!
The Final Descent (Monstrumologist #4) - Rick Yancey
The Dream Thieves (Raven Boys #2) - Maggie Stiefvater

Bought:
The Chaos of Stars - Kiersten White (Kindle)
"Phoenix Overture" - Jodi Meadows (Kindle)
Shiver (Wolves of Mystic Falls #1) - Maggie Stiefvater. Getting ready for a signing!

Giveaways & Contests:
ARC of Just One Year (Just One Day #2) - Gayle Forman. I am not one to talk in textspeak, but all I can say about this is OMGOMGOMG. Huge thank you to The Young Folks for their giveaway!
A Tale of Two Centuries (My Super Sweet Sixteenth Century #2) - Rachel Harris. I adore this book & snagged this copy from the Twitter party hosted by Christina from Ensconced in YA for my ridiculous Austin-inspired haiku!

DRCs:
The Bride Wore Size 12 (Heather Wells #5) - Meg Cabot (Edelweiss)
Playing Dirty (Stargazer #2) - Jennifer Echols (Edelweiss)
Okay, I need to fangirl for a moment. My regular readers know that Meg and Jennifer are both in my top 5 authors of all time (along with JKR, Richelle Mead, and Ally Carter, in case you were wondering). So the fact that I got both of their newest books from Edelweiss on the same night, I basically freaked out. My sister thought there was something wrong with me (which there probably is, but more wrong than usual) because I was dancing around our house.
Let the Storms Break (Sky Fall #2) - Shannon Messenger (Edelweiss)
Palace of Spies - Sarah Zettel (Netgalley)
Hung Up - Kristen Tracy (Edelweiss)
Bang - Lisa McMann (Edelweiss)
The Last Forever - Deb Caletti (Edelweiss)
Never Too Late - A. Destiny, Rhonda Helms (Edelweiss)

Events attended:
Markus Zusak lecture on the The Book Thief and signing

  1. Mary! Shame on you! "Phoenix Overture" was written by Jodi MEADOWS. For shame!

On a different note. I now shall check out the audiobook of Clockwork Angel. On that note - I suggest the audiobook of World War Z that has a cast. OMG. Fantastic. I'm like a cd and a half behind Tim now though, cause I fell asleep on the drive home last night haha.

    1. Thanks for the correction. I just wrote White because of Kiersten. Derp. I'm like the audiobook except for the fact that she gave Gabriel Lightwood a lisp, which he doesn't have, and he sounds like a whiny B. If you know what I mean.
