Weekly wrap-up: January 5-11

Whew! I have been reading like a crazy person, but with all my reading challenges and blogging goals, it's probably a very good thing that I have! I might have gotten even a little more reading done except work is kicking my butt right now. I got home at 7 last night and took a 3 1/2  hour long nap because I wsas so wiped.

Completed:
The Prophecy (Fulfillment series #1) - Erin Albert: 3 stars. Not a bad book, actually quite interesting with good characters, but some technical problems prevented me from loving it like many readers have so far. Full review here (contains spoilers but they are very obviously marked).
The Distance Between Us - Kasie West: 4 stars. I was feeling really rough Sunday and needed a quick, fun, and sweet read. This really hit the spot. It's absolutely darling but witty and snarky enough that it isn't saccharine. I'm angry it took me this long to read, but I'm so glad I finally did!
Alienated (Alienated #1) - Melissa Landers: 4 stars. I'm loving this new crop of spaced out sci-fi novels, even if they somehow all feature heroines who have red hair... This is a great tale of star-crossed (literally) lovers, but it's so much more than just a romance. The buildup is excellent. So much wonderful tension! And Melissa has so many snappy one-liners that I was giggling furiously even while fanning myself during all the squishy romantical moments. Full review coming soon but you should put it on your TBR now!
"Pretty in Pearls" (Forgive My Fins #3.5) - Tera Lynn Childs: 3 stars. FINALLY. I have been looking forward to this full-length novella for months and months, ever since Tera posted the original short on her blog. I am so glad that Tera and Sarah Shumway, her amazing editor, were able to get Peri's story out there because it's just adorable.

Reread:
Just One Day audiobook - Gayle Forman & Catherine McInerny: 4 stars. Pretty good audio adaptation. Catherine had good, distinct voices for all the characters (even all of Dee's identities!), but because Gayle often wrote in the book how to pronounce words and names, at times, it was a little redundant.
She Went All the Way - Meg Cabot: 4 stars. I just love Meg. Her books never fail to put me in a good mood. This isn't my favorite of her novels by far, even her adult novels, but it's still a lot of fun to read and very enjoyable.

Currently Reading:
Fangirl audiobook - Rainbow Rowell. 25% complete. Loving this!

New to my bookshelf this week:
Library:
My library card expired, and although I was able to renew, I haven't been to my actual branch this week so I have a few books just chilling out there. I'm going to have to do a LOT of reading because my library books are starting to pile up in a not-so-good way.

Bought:
Today, I am breaking down and using a picture instead of a list because I bought waaaaaaay too many books to list this week.
"Pretty in Pearls" - Tera Lynn Childs. Woohoo! So glad to finally have the rest of this story!
Everything from Half Price books, except "Pretty in Pearls" and Lips Touch Three Times, which are both from Amazon.

Giveaways & Contests:
These Broken Stars - Amie Kaufman & Megan Spooner. I won a hardcover from Disney-Hyperion. This was a prize for the totally amazing TBS tour hosted by Wendy of The Midnight Garden. Although the tour is over, if you like TBS or are interested in it at all, I really recommend you still read all the stops because the amount of behind-the-scenes info is staggering.

DRCs:
Thank you to Harper for allowing me to just get ALL THE BOOKS. You guys make my heart happy.
Meridian - Josin L. McQuein
How to Meet Boys - Catherine Clark
The Secrets of Lily Graves - Sarah Strohmeyer
17 First Kisses - Rachael Allen
The Things You Kiss Goodbye - Leslie Connor. This has intrigued me since I saw it as someone's WoW.

Maybe One Day - Melissa Kantor

  4. I'm sad you didn't like The Prophecy as much as you thought. /: How is Fangirl's audiobook? I have it requested, but I have like 4 people in front of me still.

  5. You have a lot of reading to do! Lol! What an awesome haul! I've had The Distance Between Us for a while now and have yet to get to it. It sounds like it will be a nice palate cleanser after all the horror I've been reading lately!
